Mission Statement

Mason County Juvenile Probation Services is committed to protecting the community, while holding offenders accountable for their crimes and providing solution-focused services to reduce recidivism.

Mason County Juvenile Court is comprised of mandated and statutorily defined services (RCW 13 and 28). There are four programs funded to serve as a division of Mason County Superior Court. The Juvenile Grants and Guardian Ad Litem funding is received from the State of Washington and is designated for specific interventions. The Juvenile Court is responsible for civil mattes including BECCA Bill cases (Truancy, At-Risk Youth, Child in Need of Services) and Dependency cases (Child Abuse/Neglect), as well as “being accountable for and responding to the needs of youthful offenders” as defined by RCW 13.40. In 1998 a 16-bed temporary Juvenile Detention facility was opened to serve the community seven days a week, 24-hours a day.
