  • 07/19/2024 - News Release - Swim Advisory for Belfair State Park and Twanoh State Park Mason County Public Health and Human Services warns visitors not to swim at either Belfair State Park or Twanoh State Park after receiving sample results with high enterococci bacteria. Warning signs have been posted at both state parks near swim area entrances. While the beaches are not closed until confirmation sampling is performed, health officials recommend people and pets stay out of the water.
  • 07/15/2024 - News Release - Mason County Community Engagement Board is seeking members - This board was established to address truancy issues by providing a supportive forum for families to identify and overcome barriers regarding school attendance. Through collaboration with schools and community resources, the Board aims to prevent formal court proceedings by resolving issues at the community level.
  • 07/11/2024 - News Release - Burn Restrictions - By Proclamation by the State Commissioner of Public Lands, effective immediately all outdoor burning including campfires and charcoal briquettes are restricted through September 30, 2024. This date may be shortened or extended depending on fire conditions. Please note these restrictions do not apply to pizza ovens, smokers, propane fire pits or propane bar-b-ques. This ban is prompted by multiple wildfires that are actively burning across the state. Your cooperation in keeping Mason County fire safe is appreciated.
  • 06/04/2024 - News Release - 2025 Mason County Comprehensive Plan Community Vision Survey - Mason County is in the process of evaluating and updating the County Comprehensive Plan and Development Regulations as required per the Growth Management Act under RCW 36.70A.130. Additional information is needed from the public to help shape the direction of the Comprehensive Plan and how Mason County communities take shape over the 2025 to 2045 period.     The Board of Mason County Commissioners is seeking individuals interested in serving as a Mason County Fire Protection District No. 12 Commissioner (FPD # 12) for Position 1 and 3. The appointed persons shall serve until qualified individuals are elected in 2025. For verification of eligibility, please contact the Mason County Auditor’s Office Elections Department (360) 427-9670 ext. 470. The Mason County Commissioners have scheduled a special meeting for Friday, May 24, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. to interview applicants and potentially appoint two individuals to serve as Mason County Fire Protection District No. 12 Commissioners.   • 03/13/2024 - News Release - Herbicide Maintenance Program Notice - Public Works will begin the spring application of herbicides for vegetation along County roads, weather permitting, in April. For a detailed list of roads effected, please visit the Public Works Herbicide Spray Program page (https://www.masoncountywa.gov/forms/public-works/index.php). Property owners adjacent to the areas being sprayed, and do not want spraying to take place, may enroll in the "Owner Will Maintain" program by contacting Public Works at ext. 450. Property owners already enrolled in the program do not need to re-enroll.

The BOE is a three-member board whose responsibility is to ensure that all property valuations are at 100% of market value, so an equitable tax assessment can be established.
  • 2/05/2024 - News Release - Mason County Citizens' Commission on Salaries for Elected Officials - The Board of Mason County Commissioners is seeking applications to fill positions on the Mason County Citizens' Commission on Salaries for Elected Officials. The general purpose of the Commission is to set the salaries of the County Commissioners and the elected Auditor, Assessor, Clerk, Coroner, Sheriff, and Treasurer. The Commission will consist of ten members with six of the ten being randomly selected from registered voters by the County Auditor. The remaining four Commission members must be a resident of Mason County and shall be appointed by the County Commissioners. The persons selected for these positions shall have experience in the field of personnel management or a related field.
