Sheriff Spurling is the Forty-First Elected Sheriff in the history of the Mason County Sheriff’s Office (started in 1854). He is directly responsible to the Citizens of Mason County

Sheriff Spurling is a long-term Mason County resident and is very involved in the community through volunteering as a coach, teaching Martial Arts, and serving in community groups and church services. His military service includes the US Marine Corps (1984-1988) and the US Army Reserves (1988-2005) where he was called into active duty during Operation Iraqi Freedom.  
Sheriff Spurling holds several Certificates including ones in Physical Fitness, Corrective Exercise Instruction, Personal Training, Defensive Tactics Instruction, Police Science, Collision Specialist, Control Tactics and Weapons and Psychomotor Skills and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management/ Criminal Justice from Liberty University.
Sheriff Spurling joined the Mason County Sheriff’s Office as Chief Criminal Deputy of the North Precinct in 2013 after a 25-year career with the Washington State Patrol.

Undersheriff Adams is second in command of the Mason County Sheriff’s Office. He is directly responsible for the overall command of operations, both civil and criminal. 

Undersheriff Adams is a lifelong resident of Mason County. He went to grade school at Mt. View Elementary, graduated from Shelton High School, and has spent his entire law enforcement career at the Mason County Sheriff’s Office serving the people of Mason County.  His education includes a Graduate Certificate in Criminal Justice Education from the University of Virginia, a Bachelor of Science in Business/Public Administration from the University of Phoenix, a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership and Graduate Certificate in Servant Leadership from Gonzaga University and he attended the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy – Session 273. 

Chief Dracobly is responsible for Law Enforcement Operations for the Mason County Sheriff.  He is directly responsible for the two Patrol Lieutenants, Detectives, and the Sheriff's Office IT division.

Chief Dracobly holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Central Washington University.  In 1990, he commenced his journey in law enforcement as a Deputy Sheriff with the Kittitas County Sheriff's Office.  In 1992, he transitioned to the Mason County Sheriff's Office, marking the beginning of a long career.  Over the years, he has held a variety of duties, assignments, and positions, and as been promoted within the Sheriff’s Office, showcasing his versatility and commitment to the agency and the people of Mason County.

Chief Beyer commands the Support Division of the Mason County Sheriff’s Office. She is responsible for the Civil & Records functions and the Volunteer Program.

Chief Beyer was born and raised in Washington State and has been a Mason County resident since 1977, except for a temporary out-of-state move from 1988-1991 and again in 2016. She attended Grapeview Elementary, graduated from Shelton High School, and has some college education with a partial (in progress) degree in Business Management.  She started with the Mason County Sheriff’s Office in 1987 as a Reserve Deputy and then Corrections Officer, served as Records Specialist for several years, and was appointed Chief Civil Deputy in 2017.

Chief Hanson is the Jail Chief for the Mason County Sheriff. He is directly responsible for jail operations.

Chief Hanson was appointed to this position in September 2016. Previously, he served as the Jail Chief in Lewis County for 6 years and has a total of 32 combined years in Corrections. He has served as a board member for Cascade Mental Health and is a former member of the American Correctional Association and Washington State Jail Association. He is a college graduate and has attended Command College. He holds certifications as a Field Training Officer, First and Mid-level supervisor, and a Jail Administrator Certification from the United States Department of Justice. Chief Hanson and his team at Mason just achieved Corrections Accreditation through WASPC.

Lieutenant Schoeneberg is the Jail Lieutenant for the Mason County Sheriff’s Office. He assists with jail operations and is the training and accreditation manager for the jail.

Lieutenant Schoeneberg was born and raised in Kennewick, WA and graduated from Kennewick High School. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Saint Martin’s University. Lieutenant Schoeneberg joined the Mason County Sheriff’s Office in 2013. Prior to being promoted, Lieutenant Schoeneberg served as a Corrections Sergeant, Field Training Officer, and Control Tactics instructor.

Lieutenant Severance is responsible for Patrol Operations, Search and Rescue, and the Marine Enforcement Unit.

Lt. Severance was born and raised in Central Ohio and holds a degree in Criminal Justice with an emphasis on Homeland Security and Community Preparedness. His military and Law Enforcement training include a wide range of law enforcement and leadership schools.  He joined the Mason County Sheriff’s Office in 2000 after service in the US Army Military Police Corps. Prior to being promoted he was a Patrol Sergeant and supervised many programs, to include Search and Rescue, the Special Operations Rescue Team, Marine Enforcement Unit, Accreditation, and the K-9 Unit.

Lieutenant Birklid is the current SWAT Team Commander, Training Manger and oversees the Patrol K9 Teams.

Lt. Birklid was raised in Bonney Lake, WA and graduated from Sumner High School.  He holds an associate degree in business administration.  Birklid joined the Mason County Sheriff’s Office in 2006 after serving in the US Air Force from 2001-2006. Prior to being promoted, Lt. Birklid served as a Patrol Sergeant, Lead K9 Trainer, and SWAT Team Leader.  Lt. Birklid has dedicated countless hours and days assisting in the training of SWAT Team members and K9 Teams for Mason County and surrounding agencies.
