Household Hazardous Waste Information
We no longer accept paints or stains of any kind. They will need to take to the nearest Paint Care facility.
OPEN* Fridays and Saturdays, 10 am – 3 pm There is no charge for disposal.
Scalehouse attendants will direct you to the drop off location
No empty containers accepted
*closed on holidays when the Transfer Station is closed
We CANNOT Accept
- Latex paint
- Fireworks
- TVs, Computers or other electronics
- Medicines
- Alkaline batteries
- Ammunition or explosives of any kind
Latex paint is not considered a hazardous material. To properly dispose of latex paint:
- Dry it Out and throw it away with your regular trash.
- For small quantities – pop off the lid and let it dry up or paint it onto waste cardboard.
- For larger quantities – mix it with clay-based cat litter or sawdust so it is no longer liquid before throwing away the can.
- Always leave lids off empty, dried out containers.

four facilities for $1.50 each.
Eells Hill, Hoosport, Union & Belfair
Self-serve, drop-off is available at all four of our facilities during all operating hours. We have large drums for you to empty your used motor oil, oil filters and antifreeze. Because you will empty your containers into our large drums – you can keep them for next time –.
Tips for Transporting your Household Hazardous Wastes
- Keep products away from children and pets
- Secure the load with ties to prevent it from shifting.
- Keep products in their original containers.
- Never mix different products together.
- Make sure items are well sealed, lids tight and not leaking.
- Place items in leak-proof tubs packed with newspaper.
- Put leaking can into another tub or bucket, and add clay-based cat litter.
- Wrap fluorescent bulbs/tubes in newspaper to prevent breakage.
