Overview
Mason County Community Services manages approximately $1,100,000 dollars for housing and homelessness from the local document recording fees, Consolidated Homeless Grant and Housing and Essential Needs Grant. The Homeless Housing Grant Program was created in Washington State by Engrossed Second Substitute House Bill (ESSHB) 2163 on August 1, 2005. The law created a document recording fee on certain documents to be utilized by local jurisdictions to reduce homelessness (RCW 36.22.179). Administration of the grant funds are shared between local governments and the Department of Commerce. This money is awarded through an annual Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
