Zoonotic diseases are diseases that are normally found in animals but can be transmitted to people. Vectors are frequently arthropods, such as mosquitoes, ticks, flies, and fleas, which can transmit diseases through bites. The purpose of the Mason County Vector Program is to educate the public on diseases carried by vectors. The program responds to reports of animal bites and performs surveillance for emerging diseases.
