Board of Health
According to Washington law (RCW 70.05.060), a local board of health is responsible for supervising all matters pertaining to the preservation of the life and health of the people within its jurisdiction. The Board of Health’s relationship to the Public Health department includes:
- Advice or governance of the department.
- Act as the liaison between the health department and the public.
- Oversee or authorize financial budgets and expenditures.
- Propose health-related policies or ordinances.
- Decide what clinical services are needed and can be provided.

Mason County Board of Health conducts monthly public meetings to discuss local public health issues. Meetings are scheduled on the fourth Tuesday of every other month, at 3:00 p.m. see resolution 01-20 for more information, in the Courthouse Annex, Mason County Building 1, 411 N 5th Street, Shelton, WA 98584.
